“I continue to love my job, develop skills and look after my customers”
I began my career with an apprenticeship in piano tuning at The Kemble - Yamaha Piano Factory. This apprenticeship led to a three-year college course in Piano Tuning and Restoration at Newark on Trent. The college is the UK centre of excellence for piano tuning, restoration and repair, now operating as the School of Musical Instrument Craft. After gaining post qualification experience around the UK and in Australia, I settled in Bristol and have been tuning locally ever since. |
Professional TrainingI am a member of the Piano Tuners Association.
Members of the PTA are required to pass a Membership Test to prove their ability as qualified tuners or technicians, they provide liability insurance, hold members to a Code of Conduct, and will investigate and act on complaints. Professional Development I regularly take part in further training and professional development. In the past two years I spent time in the Bechstein training academy in Seifhennersdorf, Germany learning how to prepare pianos for the concert platform and have taken part in PTA training days for Steinway, Schimmel, Blüthner, and Yamaha pianos. |
